At Grace Christian Academy, our goal as a student enters high school is to prepare them for the next chapter – a chapter they write while being guided by parents and GCA staff.

The GCA Guidance Counselor makes every effort to customize the education of every student ninth through twelfth grade based on their goals. We offer a variety of classes including honor classes and dual enrollment opportunities with local colleges.

High school students can choose from several electives including chorus, art, and conditioning. Each teen attends a weekly chapel and bible classes throughout the week. Students are also required to perform community service hours.

Students athletes can play an array of sports including cross country, volleyball, basketball, tennis, fishing, track, soccer, golf, cheer, and dance line.

HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULUM:

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS

Students in grades 9 through 12 primarily learn writing and English through HOLT’s Elements of Literature courses. This curriculum offers a comprehensive approach to literary analysis, focusing on essential elements such as plot, character development, theme, setting, and conflict. By engaging with diverse texts, including fiction, poetry, drama, and non-fiction, students build critical thinking and reading skills. Additionally, 11th and 12th graders have the option to enroll in English 1101 and 1102 as dual enrollment courses, allowing them to earn both high school and college credit.

MATH & SCIENCE

They often incorporate hands-on activities, digital tools, and a Biblical worldview to enhance reasoning and critical thinking skills. Additionally, 11th and 12th graders have the option to enroll in College Algebra, Trigonometry, or Calculus as dual enrollment courses, allowing them to earn both high school and college credit.

SOCIAL STUDIES

The Bob Jones University  Social Studies curriculum offers an evangelical Christian perspective by integrating history, geography, civics, and economics with biblical principles. It aims to teach students to think critically and apply Scripture to understand and address real-world issues such as culture, government, and social problems. The curriculum emphasizes God's interaction with human events through narrative-driven texts, maps, and resources. Additionally, 11th and 12th graders have the option to enroll in US History, Government, and Economics as well as Psychology, Sociology, and Human Communications as dual enrollment courses, allowing them to earn both high school and college credit.

DUAL ENROLLMENT

Dual enrollment is a program that enables eligible high school students to enroll in college-level academic courses and earn both high school and college credits simultaneously. Upon successful completion, students receive an official college transcript with credits that may transfer to other colleges or universities. Students also have the opportunity to take Career Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) courses as electives. CTAE combines core academic knowledge with technical and occupational skills, preparing students for both post-secondary education and the workforce.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION & SPORTS

Our physical education program provides students with engaging fitness activities and team sports. Every student has the opportunity to take Conditioning, where faith is integrated with fitness. Through these activities, students learn discipline, teamwork, respect, and stewardship, all while building character and developing talents, much like Jesus did. The program aims to prepare individuals to glorify God in all aspects of life, balancing physical well-being with spiritual priorities.

BIBLE & CHAPEL

High school students participate in weekly chapel services, where they hear from various pastors from our community. The Bible curriculum, Summit, is designed to help students develop a biblical worldview. It integrates apologetics and equips them to understand, defend, and live out their faith. By addressing big questions and comparing Christianity with other worldviews, students are prepared to engage thoughtfully with their beliefs.

TECHNOLOGY

Students in high school are required to have their own Chromebooks for educational purposes only. The use of technology in the classroom enhances learning by boosting student engagement, personalizing instruction, and developing essential digital literacy skills for the future.

TESTING

High School students have the opportunity to take the school-day PSAT, SAT, and ACT on our campus. 9th graders take the PreACT 8/9.
